World Contraception Day
26 September
The World Contraception Day takes place on September 26th every year. The annual worldwide campaign centers around a vision where every pregnancy is wanted. Launched in 2007, WCD’s mission is to improve awareness of contraception and to enable young people to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health.
One of the main priorities of the Albanian Center for Population and Development is to ensure universal access to, and informed use of effective contraception. Many people in Albania lack the knowledge and information to determine when or whether they have children, and they are unable to protect themselves against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). To this end, ACPD, with support from its partners – International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and UNFPA/Albania – will continue its work focusing on creating awareness about contraceptive knowledge and family planning and to educate the younger generation about contraceptive measures.
