12 August – International Youth Day
The International Youth Day is observed annually on August 12 of every year. It is meant as an opportunity for governments and others to draw attention to youth issues worldwide.
The International Youth Day was first observed on August 12, 2000. This day was designated by the United Nations in 1999 with the adoption of resolution 54/120. The theme for 2022 is “Intergenerational solidarity: Creating a world for all ages”.
International Youth Day is intended as an opportunity for governments and other actors to pay more attention to youth issues around the world. To honor the International Youth Day in the world, various activities are organized by youth associations and organizations and institutions, such as concerts, cultural and sports events, workshops, etc., where young people, their parents, representatives of institutions at the local and central level participate, are involved.
The Albanian Center for Population and Development (ACPD) is proud to have worked on youth empowerment and activism since its inception. One of the main areas of its work is to promote and ensure equal access to quality information, education and quality and affordable services, especially for young people and groups in need. ACPD is a member of several youth networks, such as the “Voice of Youth”, the National Youth Network, the National Youth Congress, etc.
ACPD centers (Aulona in Vlora, Po in Tirana, and Trokitja in Shkodra) offer a variety a services to young people. ACPD builds its activity with the Albanian youth on the principle “Healthy youth, safe future for the homeland”.
