Great news! The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) database recognized Albania among 19% of countries that were successful in Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) institutionalization. Globally, only these countries have a system to track investment in gender equality (within a poll of 69 countries that have reported on GRB application in 2020). Albania is marked that “fulfilled or almost fulfilled” SDG indicator 5.c.1. Financing for Gender Equality. Other countries in Europe that have obtained the same mark are Austria, Belgium, Iceland, Portugal, and Ukraine. This is great news for Albania and its civil society (including the Albanian Center for Population and Development) as it shows that the hard work and the technical expertise given in the last 10 years on GRB is giving impact-level results and inspiring other countries in the region to follow the same path.
